• Laureus ambassador Manuel Reuter: “On the projects, the children learn to believe in themselves, to set goals, and to take responsibility for themselves and their actions.”
The Motorworld Group is the new Country Patron of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany. The Group will be therefore be supporting the work of this charitable foundation in an official capacity together with the founding partners, Mercedes-Benz and IWC Schaffhausen.
Laureus Sport for Good supports disadvantaged children and young people worldwide through the targeted promotion of social sports projects. The foundation acts as a long-term development partner in the so-called “Sport for Development” sector. Proportional financing, a specific transfer of knowledge, and assistance in establishing contacts with new sponsors enable the supported projects to develop further, and to professionally accompany step-by-step more and more disadvantaged children and young people.
“Only with strong partners such as the Motorworld Group is it possible for Laureus Sport for Good to promote social sports projects on a long term and sustainable basis. As a successful corporate group with a large network, it opens up new possibilities for us to acquire supporters and donors for expanding the Sport for Good movement,” explains Paul Schif, Managing Director of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany, Austria.
The Motorworld Group develops, builds and operates experience worlds dedicated to mobile passion. “As a family-run company, social commitment is also important to us – in this way we can contribute to establishing sustainable development at social level. The national partnership with the Laureus Sport for Good gives us the opportunity to specifically support outstanding social sports projects, and thus to invest in a better future in the long term. We are really looking forward to the joint activities with Laureus Sport for Good,” says Andreas Dünkel, the Group’s CEO.
“As a former racer and as a Laureus Sport for Good ambassador, this partnership combines my two great passions, namely to use sport to do good. Not every child in Germany and Austria has the good fortune to grow up in a stable family environment. The social sports projects give them the support they are looking for and desperately need. They learn to believe in themselves, to set goals, and to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. This helps them not only on the project, but also at school and in choosing a career,” explains touring car race legend Manuel Reuter, who ended his active racing career in 2005 and today competes in triathlons as a member of TEAM SPORT FOR GOOD.

About Laureus Sport for Good
With its three pillars, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the Laureus World Sports Academy and the Laureus World Sports Awards, Laureus Sport for Good pursues one goal: To use the power of sport to address the social challenges of today, and to help disadvantaged children and young people through social sports projects. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else can. Sport can awaken hope where previously there was only despair.” (Nelson Mandela, Laureus World Sports Awards, Monaco) Laureus was founded in 2000 by Daimler AG and Richemont, and is supported by its global partners Mercedes-Benz and IWC Schaffhausen. At national level, the MOTORWORLD GROUP supports Laureus Sport for Good Germany & Austria in an official capacity as a Country Patron. More information can be found here: https://www.laureus.de/foundation/partner/ Since then, nine national Laureus Sport for Good foundations have been established in Argentina, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria/Germany, Switzerland, Spain, South Africa, and the USA. Laureus Sport for Good meanwhile promotes around 100 social sports projects worldwide. To date, millions of children and adolescents aged 8-18 years have been helped to take their lives into their own hands, and to set themselves goals and then achieve them.
Founded in 2001 as the first national Laureus foundation, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany uses the power of sport with the aim of assisting disadvantaged children and young people in their personal development, and in doing so to have a positive impact on society. Austria has belonged to the Foundation’s action area since 2009. German and Austrian Sport for Good projects have so far given help, advice and support to more than 50,000 children and young people from socially deprived backgrounds. Laureus Sport for Good imparts to them values such as team spirit, respect, discipline and fair play – values that also help them in everyday life, at school, and for their vocational training. Children and young people with disabilities or from disadvantaged neighbourhoods learn about the power of sport so that they can believe in themselves, pursue their goals, overcome setbacks, and take their lives into their own hands. Be it street football, skateboarding, therapeutic horse-riding, basketball or boxing: The social sport projects not only motivate the children to lead an active life, but also give them long-term support. All Sport for Good projects in Germany and Austria can be found here: http://www.laureus.de/foundation/unsere-projekte/ Laureus Sport for Good is supported in Germany and Austria by five Academy members together with some 30 ambassadors.
